Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated: 5 August 2026
This policy explains how billing, cancellation and refunds work for LexiSA’s paid plans. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions. It doesn’t apply to the Free plan, which has no charge and nothing to cancel.
1. How billing works
Personal (R199/month) and Professional (R399/month) subscriptions are billed monthly in advance through Yoco, our payment processor. There is no fixed-term contract or lock-in period — your subscription simply continues month to month until you cancel.
Practitioner plans are custom, in-house installations arranged directly with us. Billing and cancellation terms for a Practitioner plan are set out in the agreement you sign with us when onboarding, not in this policy.
2. Cancelling your subscription
You can cancel a Personal or Professional subscription at any time from your Account page — there is no notice period, no cancellation fee, and no need to give a reason.
When you cancel, you keep full access to your paid plan’s features until the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for. You will not be billed again after that. Your account then reverts to the Free plan rather than being deleted — your data and matter history remain accessible under Free-plan limits.
3. Refunds
Because you retain access for the remainder of the period you’ve already paid for, we do not offer pro-rata refunds for the unused portion of a billing period when you cancel voluntarily. This is standard practice for month-to-month subscription services and reflects that you’ve already received (and keep) access to that period.
We will refund a payment in full where:
- you were charged in error (e.g. a duplicate or incorrect charge);
- a payment was processed after you had already cancelled;
- we are unable to provide the plan’s core features for a sustained period due to a fault on our side; or
- a refund is required under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or another applicable law.
To request a refund, email admin@lexisa.co.za with your account email and the reason for the request. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
4. Failed or missed payments
LexiSA’s payment processor (Yoco) does not support automatic recurring billing, so each renewal is a fresh payment request sent to you ahead of your billing date. If a renewal payment fails or isn’t completed, your plan enters a 5-day grace period during which you keep full access while you complete payment. If payment still hasn’t been completed after 5 days, your account automatically reverts to the Free plan — no debt collection, penalty, or negative listing results from a missed renewal.
5. Price changes
If we change subscription pricing, the new price applies from your next billing cycle onward, not retroactively to a period you’ve already paid for. You’re free to cancel before the new price takes effect if you don’t wish to continue at the new rate.
6. Your consumer rights
Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or other South African consumer protection law. Because LexiSA subscriptions are month-to-month with no fixed term or early-cancellation penalty, you are free to cancel at any time as described above; if you believe a charge was unfair or unlawful, you may also refer a complaint to the National Consumer Commission.
7. Contact us
Questions about a specific charge, or a refund request, can be sent to admin@lexisa.co.za.
